Adonis

People talk about Adonis' 4 volume study Ath-Thabit wa-l-Mutahawwil.  This is my theory about the book: anyone who actually praises the book has not actually read it.  It would be considered inadequate and below standard level of any college here.  There is not a single original insight.  (Of course, the author knows the turath of literature very well, but that is not relevant here).
