This article in the New York Times is long and detailed. But it is certainly a part of the propaganda by the US government to pressure the Egyptian military to preserve the Egyptian-Israeli treaty. The US has been cuddling and sponsoring and funding the Egyptian military since 1979. Only now, only weeks after Mubarak's ouster, the New York Times suddenly discovers that the Egyptian military has a business sides and ventures, when Robert Springbor's book (Mubarak's Egypt) was published years ago and detailed that side of the military. It is obviously a way to maintain US leverage and to threaten the deprivation of privileges.
