An-Nahar's newspaper

I don't read this newspaper anymore.  I mean, it is a newspaper in continuous decline.  It is only saved by Hariri and church money and by old advertising contracts arranged by sectarian right-wing ad mogul, Antoine Shuwayri.  Not a single writers that people follow in that paper anymore.  It is still what it has been: a right-wing, sectarian Christian, racist anti-Palestinian (people), anti-Syrian (people) with weaknesses for Arab gulf money since the days of Nasser.  It has an article by one of its old columnists, Emile Khuri (who was--I should state--a good friend of my late father).  He talks about sectarianism and defends it (all March 14 types are staunchly defending sectarianism and some March 8 folks are hypocritically declaring opposition to sectarianism) and says: that it is like women: that they are "an indispensable evil."  He manages to reveal the paper's sectarianism and sexism in one sentence.  Look at this sentence of his too:  "In reality sectarianism is present in civilized countries but it is not sectarianism at heart but social."  (thanks Laure)
