From Bahrain

A source in Bahrain sent me this:  "I am furious! We are now in a state of emergency; a Saudi soldier was reportedly shot dead (it's not clear how yet but I would not be surprised if it was a pro-government/ baltajiyya because really the only people in Bahrain who have guns are members of security personnel - which protesters complain they are not allowed to be part of - and members of the tribal families allied with the royal family, for their hunting expeditions). The other question of course is why was their a Saudi soldier in Sitra (where he was apparently shot) anyway?!!
OF COURSE the Americans don't consider Saudi intervention in Bahrain and occupation - they probably consider it 'Operation Bahraini Freedom'!!! Anyways, as per the consitution - which is now suspended - what few civil rights we already had, are now suspended for three months:
It is impermissible to suspend any provision of this Constitution except during the proclamation of martial law, and within the limits prescribed by the law. It is not permissible under any circumstances to suspend the convening of the Consultative Council or the Chamber of Deputies during that period or to infringe upon the immunity of their members, or during the proclamation of a state of national safety."
