I stopped my subscription to the Nation magazine years ago. I never like what I read in it: or rarely do I like what I read. When I came to the US in 1983, it was one of my first magazine subscription. IT was a really progressive magazine. Now, it is not only not progressive (it is a tool of the Democratic Party and I won't be surprised if it follows the path of the New Republic), and it is not only cowardly on Palestine issue, but it is silly and shallow. Look at this tweet that Sam sent me from the editor-in-chief of the Nation Magazine: it can't get any lower:
Katrina vandenHeuvel (@KatrinaNation) 2/2/11 7:13 PM Queen Noor rightly calls 4 redirection of aid from military to civil society forces in Middle East/Jordan about to confront its turmoil." If Katrina vandenHeuvel knows any better, she would not be quoting the widow of a tyrant who killed more people than Mubarak. Is she that clueless or reckless or do the lives of Arabs not matter to her? So everything that VandenHeuvel knows about the Middle East, she learned from Queen Noor. This is like quoting the wife Bin Ali about how to deal with Mubarak. PS I had a student from UC, Berkeley who did an internship at the Nation magazine. After I wrote many criticisms of the Nation here, he was instructed to not communicate with me from Nation offices. |
