Republican Guards

Middle East leaders have republican guards: these are private militias that are intended to save the regime in its last days and to protect them from coups.  How come Western media paid so much attention to Saddam's Republican Guards and barely a word is being said about Mubarak's Republican Guards?  Oh, wait. One is a puppet (Saddam was a puppet in the 1980s and for that he was showered with good press in the US--not in the UK press which was more critical).
