The Raymond Davis fiasco

A. from Pakistan sent me this:  "Here's the latest on the Raymond Davis fiasco, reported a few hours ago by the Guardian, confirming what is already a widely held belief by Pakistanis (Despite her government's best efforts to convince themselves that he has immunity).  “The American who shot dead two men in Lahore, triggering a diplomatic crisis between Pakistan and the US, is a CIA agent who was on assignment at the time,” guardian.co.uk reported on Monday."  "Earlier the Punjab police and intelligence officials had claimed also that Davis was a high-profile spy. “The evidence was provided by Davis in his confessional statement during investigation,” a senior police official had told The Express Tribune, requesting anonymity. “We have concluded that a gang of American spies is active in Punjab and other parts of the country,” he added."  Of course the US lapdog media was told to shut up about his CIA connections:  "A number of US media outlets learned about Davis's CIA role but have kept it under wraps at the request of the Obama administration. A Colorado television station, 9NEWS, made a connection after speaking to Davis's wife. She referred its inquiries to a number in Washington which turned out to be the CIA. The station removed the CIA reference from its website at the request of the US government."  (Earlier) "President Barack Obama has insisted Davis be freed, saying the principle of diplomatic immunity must be upheld."
