The New Republic of South Sudan

Why has there been no news on the new republic of South Sudan which was brought into being with enthusiastic US support?  The forces of the government there killed more than 200 people--mostly civilians--in southern Sudan but the news did not make it into the press in the US.  I don't expect celebrities to speak out against the forces of southern Sudan and their massacres.
