Fisk on the Nile

A Western correspondent in the Middle East sent me this (he/she does not wish to be identified):  "by way I met Fisk other day. a few journalists were brought together as guests for a TV show and I was... He turned the astounding achievement of Egyptians in overthrowing this vicious US, British, Israeli, Saudi, French- backed ruler into a story about him! He talked on and on, boasted about seeing Heikal every year and having 30 cigars, kept trying to pronounce words in Arabic to sell "local knowledge" to clueless viewers, told us about hacked up babies he saw in Algeria, etc. It was breathtaking. So egotistical, so flawed (and what's bad about it is I think he knows very well he's presenting himself as something he's not)."
