Anthony Shadid

"For decades, the Arab world has waited for a savior — be it Gamal Abdel-Nasser, the charismatic Egyptian president, or even, for a time, Saddam Hussein."  Oh, come on, Anthony.  Yes, Arabs cheered Saddam's lobbying of missiles on Israel in 1991, but to maintain that he was seen as an Arab savior, like Nasser was, is a bit more than a stretch.
