Learning from Lawrence of British Arabia
"T. E. Lawrence, a British military officer most commonly referred to as Lawrence of Arabia, realized that it was imperative that individuals working in Arab communities understand the communities in order to positively influence them. Personal relationships, not institutions, have the most profound effect on these individuals. Understanding local Muslim communities’ issues and concerns, especially as they relate to law enforcement, will take the dedicated efforts of community-based police officers." (thanks Yaman)
