Insulting the Iranian people and their culture in the New York Times

Neil MacFarquhar insults the Iranian people and their faith here: "MOHSEN SAZEGARA recognizes that nonviolent protest is a tough sell for most Iranians, given that bloodshed is a part of both their long history and their faith." Can you imagine the outrage and uproar is this was said in the New York Times about, say, the Jewish people or African-Americans? (thanks Sinan)
