Nazila Fathi: still watching the developments in Iran very carefully, from...Toronto
This was quite a report. You know it will happen: I saw it in Lebanon. The New York Times, and other American media, only count the crowd if their slogans fit with US/Israeli foreign policy interests. And when a crowd does not fit with US/Israeli foreign policy interests, their size is immediately downgraded, and crowd estimates are not given. Read this article, for example. A big section of the article is to provide justification as to why so many people showed up (all were bused in according to the article), and why the opposition did not succeed in mustering a show of force. Of course, Nazila Fathi from Toronto adds important ingredient without which coverage of the Iran story in the Times is incomplete: "Videos that circulated on the Internet showed demonstrators tearing down and stomping on posters of the country’s supreme leader..."
