Self-less imperialism

"The trade fair is a telling indication of an uncomfortable truth: America’s war in Iraq has been good for business in Iraq — but not necessarily for American business." Oh, poor US business. But this makes sense. The US is in Iraq for pure self-less, altruistic reasons. The US is not there for profit. Not at all. How humane of the US. Why do I get goose bumps when I read such articles in the NYT?
