Hanging from a tree: that lousy homeland called Lebanon
I am sick and tired. I am truly sick and tired. I was so disgusted by this that I almost did not blog. An Ethiopian maid was found dead, hanging from a tree in South Lebanon. Day after day, I post news of African and Asian maids committing suicide in that lousy homeland, called Lebanon. What will it take before a public outcry is heard, what will it take before the government, or some agency of the government, acts on this. The Interior Minister sees himself as a different kind of minister, well, he can start by campaigning on this very important issue. Where are the human rights organizations that flood our inboxes with press releases when a pro-US dissident somewhere is offended? What will it take before human rights organizations make this a top priority? And why is the Left in Lebanon not making this issue a top priority? The Lebanese Communist Party is celebrating its anniversary and it can decide to advocate against the mistreatment and abuse and murder of foreign maids. (thanks Saeed)
