Lebanese press admires French racism
Ibn Rushd sent me this: "The President of the Marseille Football Club in France made a racist comment yesterday. He said he did not want to act "like an African or like a Lebanese". It was actually a jab against his (black) predecessor. In France, the press denounced his racist comment. To get out of the mess, he pretended that he meant only the form of government, not Africans or Lebanese per se. Guess what : the Lebanese press is delighted : They took it as a badge of honour and said his false excuse amounted to brilliant political analysis. When it comes from a frenchman, racism is welcome. Last week, it was the French Interior minister who made an obvious anti-arab racist comment. He was also defended by the Lebanese Press."
