Iran and Hizbullah

It does not amaze me anymore to see evidence of the low quality of Israeli "expertise" on the Middle East. It is clear to me that when the region turned more Islamist, Israeli misunderstanding of the region and its issues has only increased. Look at this dumb article attributed to some "senior" expert at the army of the terrorist state. In fact, I was just thinking as of late: that Hizbullah role and influence in the Iran-Hizbullah equation has only increased substantially. The role of Hasan Nasrallah and his emergence as a leader of the movement strengthened the hand of the party vis-a-vis Iran. Just days ago (in the last speech by Hasan Nasrallah--not the speech that he is giving today), I was rather surprised at the tone of his remarks about Iran developments: they were rather critical and disrespectful if measured by the history of Hizbullah's speech making since its founding. He was talking about the Lebanese government and he was denying the Iranian intervention in the matter and he said rather dismissively: Iran has its own problems and own difficulties, or words to that effect. The substance and style of the remark struck me. But then again: the last place you go to understand the Middle East is the Israeli press and government. In fact, what I read in the Israeli press about the Arab world I do read in the sleazy Kuwaiti tabloids.
