What Arabs say in polls

This is quite hilarious. Fouad Ajami--who has not said anything new or original in 30 years (as Hanna Batatu said about his Arab Predicament: there are no insights in this book)--now says that he alone can tell you what Arabs think and want, no matter what Arabs say in public opinion surveys. "Arabs know this history even as they say otherwise, even as they tell the pollsters the obligatory things about America the pollsters expect them to say." Also, Ajami yet again praises that Arab Human Development Report, yet he criticizes the writers and contributors and accueses them of disliking American wars and occupations--a crime in Ajami's world. How boring.
