Violence against women in the US

If this was in some foreign country, it would be on the front pages of US newspapers: "What types of injuries are most common?
We see lots of knife wounds to the face, cigarette burns, eye sockets depressed inward. One woman was punched in the face for 17 years. Her cheeks, eyes, and nose were all crushed. The surgeries are complex—we take bone from the skull and cartilage from the ribs to rebuild the face. Seventy-five percent of injuries from a domestic partner are made to the head, face, and neck. The men are trying to control a woman’s ability to leave the relationship. They want them to appear ugly and disfigured."
