Jimmy Carter
I don't vote and I don't consider elections to be dramatic human events. Hannah Arendt was not big on voting either. But one of the things that bother me about elections around the world is the sight of Jimmy Carter and his teak "monitoring" the elections. Let Jimmy Carter monitor the tomb of Anwar Sadat: his best friend and inspiration--as he always repeats. If I am running a country, I would make it a point to ban Jimmy Carter form "monitoring" elections but I would not mind if he wanted to monitor the cultivation of potatoes. He can also monitor me while I put on my shoes in the morning.
