Hariri-Saudi Money and Western Press Junkets
John sent me this: "The editor of Guardian America, Michael Tomasky, is in Lebanon on a junket paid for by New Opinion, a March 14 offshoot, in case you didn't know. In his first blog post he promises to be modest in his declarations, but that's tossed out the window by day two, evidenced in: "The M14 people are the people to be cheering for here. Yes, they paid for our trip, but that obviously isn't the reason one wants to see them win. They're for democracy and reform." But the classic part for me, in this article by this obscenely clueless writer, is his references to Amin Gemayyel (one of the most corrupt politicians in the history of the Lebanese republic and the leader of the Lebanese Nazi party, known as the Phalanges) as representing "reform." When you read that, you know that you don't have to read further.
