Mansur Rahbani died
I don't have time to write about (and mock) Mansur Rahbani and his legacy. Gaza is consuming my life now. But I need to mention that he recently sent a letter to Al-Akhbar protesting my regular attacks on him. I wrote (and relished) a nasty response but Al-Akhbar decided to publish neither of them. The only thing worth mentioning about him is that he was once interviewed on Future TV, and he expressed his admiration for "Sufism" although he could not name one Sufi poet. He was then asked about the most important thing in life, and he said: the Hummus dish. I kid you not. Al-Hallaj was into baba ghannuj.
