A coindidence
Every interpreter of Arabic on mainstream US TV news channels speaks with a Hebrew accent. I once saw an interpreter of Arabic on ABC's News Nightline in the 1990s distort the Arabic of a speaker: he made him sound threatening and menacing, when he was not in the original Arabic that I could make from the clip. I talked to the producer and he suggested that I recommend an interpreter. I recommended a professional translator/interpreter. He later told me that he was not hired: they thought he was too soft-spoken. They wanted an Arab who is heavily accented and who sounds threatening to carry the message of angry Arab speakers--and all Arabs are supposed to be angry as is well-known.
