A reader sent me this: "Maybe you've run across a similar analogy before, but doesn't it seem like watching American TV media is like watching an infomercial for some sort of crappy blender? For example, last week I was watching some foofy CNN morning news anchor allow that terrible IOF Maj. Leibovitch spout off typical platitudes about why Gaza is being decimated, and then, the anchor asks something like, "Well, there are concerns that civilians are being harmed," And then, like the host of the infomercial, the anchor allows a completely unchallenged Leibovitch to state the "oh, we regret the loss of civilian life, but that is the product of ccccccccchamas teggogist operation." The anchor, like the host of infomercial, pretends to play devil's advocate and express a mild form of skepticism, which is simply a straw man for the IOF spokesperson (or blender salesperson) to knock down with little difficulty.
