There was a large demonstration/rally of Bin Ladenites Salafis in Tripoli, Lebanon. Those groups have been enjoying U.S./Saudi/Hariri financial or political or military support. But as of late--just as with Sadat--those groups have been turning against their former sponsors. They were demonstrating against the continued incarceration of their members. A Hariri MP (who was formerly with the Palestinian Left), Mustafa `Allush (shown above) was sent to address them. So Mustafa `Allush started yelling to them: God is Great, God is great. His speech was drowned in a sea of angry chants. They called him and Hariri and Sanyurah "Israel." They also chanted Sunni sectarian chants. They did not let him speak, and they referred to the U.S. as "the black Satan". They then started to yell: "Toot. Toot. Watch Mustafa `Allush as he dies." (It rhymes in Arabic). Angry members then forced their way to the front and tried to lynch `Allush. He received a few blows before he was whisked away by security forces. On the same day, Hariri MP, Samir Al-Jisr, began his speech in parliament (in the session about the new cabinet) with religious statements, and he then proceeded to offer praise for the Salafiyyah movement. Those are the allies of the U.S. in Lebanon.
