Chris sent me this correction about an item I wrote on Yusuf Shahin: "...but Chahine did not direct bint al-Haaris. That was Barakat. He was brought in on safar barlak after the French director they hired failed to find the "ideal Lebanese village" they were looking for. I guess he got along well enough with the Rahbanis cause he also directed bint al-Haaris in 68."
