There is something sinister and counter-productive in focusing on the theory of the one-man as the source of evil--as evil as one men--and women lest we forget Golda Meir or Margreth Thatcher. Labor Zionists (and their supporters in Arab media) focus almost exclusively on Ariel Sharon as the exemplification of the dangers in--not of--Zionism as if Labor Zionism has been less cruel or less savage than Sharon's Zionism. Similarly, take the case of Christopher Hitchens's shtick--and it is a shtick--about Henry Kissinger. This paradigm really winds up absolving an entire foreign policy establishment of responsibility. Furthermore, there is nothing that Hitchens accuses Kissinger of that can't be directed at his idol, George W. Bush. Spare me.
