The sponsor of the event, the National Council on US-Arab Relations (one of the many lobbying arms of Gulf oil dynasties in Washington, DC), invited Hazem Chehabi to speak at the event. It seems Syria, which is always the last to know, did not know that Chehabi (father and son) are more loyal to Saudi Arabia and Hariri family than to Syria. His talk represented the Saudi line much more than the Syrian line. He even complained about Iranian-sponsored conversion into Shi`ism inside Syria.
