"It is now almost 21 years since a middle-aged man was shot and fatally wounded in broad daylight by unknown attackers in a London street. But the memory of Naji al-Ali, one of the most talented cartoonists the Arab world has ever known, lives on. Al-Ali's work, currently being exhibited at a central London gallery, was based in large part on his experience as a Palestinian refugee. And at a time when his people are again making headlines - and in the run-up to the 60th anniversary of the creation of Israel and what Palestinians call their nakba ("catastrophe") - it has a poignant relevance."
