"In Turkey, starting with the head-scarf amendment — a case study of religious freedom against coercive secularism — is perfectly fine." It is fine with you? Please, just tell Arabs and Muslims what is fine with you, so that they can always heed your advice, OK? And please, let Muslims and Arabs know if you need a smoothie. This fellow, who once said that people of the Middle East don't act rationally, is like Thomas Friedman: he served as cheerleader for the war, and later posed as a critic. The late Edward Said was so offended by the chutzpah of this guy: who was sent by the US occupation authority to ostensibly write a constitution for the Iraqi people, only to discover that the Ayatullah had already written a constitution.
