I have been in a bad mood all day. I left my hotel here in Berlin and took a cab; the driver then turned out to be a Palestinian who was evacuated at age 8 from Tal Az-Za`tar refugee camp. The mere name sends shudders in me. I could never even visit those sites east of Beirut: I still carry so much anger at the deeds and war crimes of the pro-Israeli right-wing militias in Lebanon (and I still carry resentment against the Syrian regime for their intervention that prevented the defeat of the Phalanges). I still carry resentment against the pro-Syrian and pro-Iraqi gangs and militias on the other side too, and the sectarian Muslim organizations that were funded and armed by Abu Jihad. In the Tal Az-Za`tar battle, Syrian and Israeli military advisers assisted the massacring militias. Do you know that the Syrian and Iraqi Ba`thist regimes supported militias of both sides in the course of the civil war? And too bad that lousy Arafat was at the head of the Palestinian resistance.
