I watched the testimony of Ryan Crocker. He is supposed to be one of what used to be called "Arabists." There is not even a hint of his Middle East expertise except in his correction pronunciation of the word "Al-Qa`idah". I think--politics aside--of Arabists like Richard Parker and Richard Murphy: and you see Crocker talk like a talking head on Fox News.
