PS I should also mention that the Phalanges were not alone in their attack on Tal Az-Za`tar: they were supported by Ahrar, Hurras Al-Arzah, At-Tandhim (of the present-day LF's George `Udwan), Michel `Awn (who was the Lebanese Army but was close to Ahrar and later to Bashir Gemayyel), and the Israeli and Syrian militaries.
