How brave of Hazim Saghiyyah. How brave of him. This leading Arab conservative (all Arab conservative now call themselves "liberal"--it is trendy these days) write about culture and freedom of expression in the Saudi newspaper where he writes (Prince Khalid Bin Sultan's paper). He criticizes restrictions on freedoms in Iran and Syria. In the rest of the Arab world, he says it is all blossoming democracies and abundant freedoms. In Saudi Arabia, he adds, one can express any idea no matter how offensive it is to House of Saud. This explains why "culture" is thriving there. Just the other day, another writer in Prince Salman bin `Abdul-`Aziz newspaper mocks restrictions on press freedoms in Iran. I really have this sincere questions: if somebody knows those people, please ask them. Do they think that readers don't notice that there is oppression in their beloved Saudi kingdom? Do they think that they are fooling us? Do those Saudi and pro-Saudi columnists think that they deserve medals for taking on rivals and enemies of House of Saud? For example, Jihad Al-Khazin only criticizes Mu`ammar Qadhdhafi and only after his feud with House of Saud. (thanks As`ad--not me)
