There is a new poll of Lebanese public opinion by the Beirut Center. It reveals that: 65.1% of all Lebanese think that there is a connection between the visit by David Welsh to Lebanon and the events in the North (39.8% of Sunnis; 90.7% of Shi`ites; 57.8% of Druzes; and 65.9% of Christians). What I found to be most interesting is that the Lebanese government seems to be failing in its efforts to blame all bombings and violence in Lebanon on Syria: Only 24.6% of all Lebanese blame Syria for the recent bombings in Ashrafiyyah/Verdun/`Alay: 25% of Sunnis; 5.5% of Shi`ites; 73.3% of Druzes; and 30% of Christians (but the questions are not well phrased: this question on Syria's responsibility is split because another question asked the Lebanese if they blame Syria AND Fath-Al-Islam). (thanks Abdo for sending me the results of the poll).
