The best explanation I have ever heard of why the Hariri camp was aligned with Syrian intelligence in Lebanon for more than 25 years. Basim As-Sab` (a Hariri deputy who used to write for As-Safir although he can't write and can't speak and represents a district in the southern suburbs that he is afraid of visiting) spoke on Bil `Arabi program on Al-Arabiya TV and he said that yes, Hariri was aligned with the Syrian regime for years but that it was only to "decrease the harm of the Syrian regime". Does that mean that those who collaborated with the Nazis in Europe did so only to reduce the harm of the Nazis?
