Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council is the new name of the Iranian-created, Supreme Council of the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI). The new organization adapted to a new situation in Iraq, said its leader `Abdul-`Aziz Al-Hakim. He said that Mr. Bush and Sistani will hitherto serve as "objects of emulation" (marji` taqlid). The official statement said that "foreign presence in Iraq" (in reference to the 28 Mongolian soldiers in Iraq) is only temporary. The temporary period, added Al-Hakim, should not last for more than 2 centuries, maximum.
