Shaykh `Abdul-Amir Qabalan (the highest Shi`ite cleric in Lebanon as far as the Lebanese state is concerned although he is not followed as "object of emulation" except by his son) has a long history of insensitivity to Palestinians. He supported the Amal movement during the War of the Camps (he was a member of the leadership of Amal). Today, he said to the Palestinians: "we are against you, in support of the Lebanese Army." In other news, a delegation of Lebanese political parties, headed by Hizbullah official, Mahmud Qmati, visited Lebanese Army commander and offered support for the Army.
