The Wolfowitz Manifesto. "The poorest people of the world, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa deserve the very best that we can deliver." Oh, yes. Please invoke the poor people of the world on your way out. I almost expected you to brag about the American war on Iraq. And then: "But, I am particularly proud to have appointed two African women as Vice-Presidents in key positions." Oh, yeah. There is nothing like tokenism to cover up policies and actions that are fundamentally discriminatory. I was expecting you to say that your best friends are Arabs and Africans. But I like this: "Finally, I want to say a special word of thanks to the many people inside and outside the Bank who have publicly or privately expressed their support for me and asked me to stay." Well, I don't mean to hurt your feelings further, but who are those people? Because if they exist, they never made themselves known to anybody. Nobody, NOBODY, asked you to stay. Not in the US and not around the world. Turn off the light on your way out. Oh, he also said: "Change should not be feared, it is something to welcome." Welcomed? Like with "sweets and flowers? Well, I may not disagree with you here, but what kind of change are we talking about? Is like the change your egineered for Iraq?
