An informed source in Beirut sent me this:
"I just got K. from Baddaoui camp. He was stuck in Beirut the last couple of days because of the clashes in the North. He could make it finally today to Baddaoui with a French communist journalist from l'Humanité. He told me "I would never been able to make it without Pierre (the journalist)". He said that the checkpoints were asking all drivers: do you have Palestinian with you?? All Palestinian women, children and elderly were being dragged from the car. It seems that the Akkar-Dinniyeh thugs (Mustaqbal) killed at least two Palestinian on the roads, they are saying racist things: such as what you are taking food to those porks?? It seems there is a high level of "ihtikan"among Palestinian refugees. Refugees from Bared Camp took buses and moved to Baddaoui during the truce. Families are crowded in 5 schools. M. who happened to be from Bared, chose to stay. The PFLP chose not t leave the camp, although many of its members died. It seems whole neighborhoods were totally destroyed, cemetries, dispensaries mosques...
The situation is so sad and dangerous.."
