Why Hassan Fattah needs adult supervision. Fattah is rarely allowed to write by himself in the NYT. Not that the NYT cares, but his articles are replete with errors, mistakes, and blatant political biases. Today, he was given a small space to write about a simple event: the meeting between Hariri and Birri. He said: "In December, the opposition laid siege to Beirut." Siege? Are we talking about the siege of Tyre by Alexander the Great here? He then said: "Syria, which has been implicated in the assassination." The investigation has not even concluded, o former Middle East trainee at the New Republic. But then again, maybe Fattah on behalf of Martin Perez has been running his own separate investigation of Hariri's assassination. If it is up to me, Fattah would not even cover foreign affairs for the Modesto Bee. Not even the Tikrit Bee. And is not Fattah supposed to be doing his stint at the Metro desk of the Times now that he has been officially approved as a token, submissive, and New Republic-trained Arab staff writer at the Times? There was a fire in the Bronx*, go cover it NOW.
Whenever I think of the Bronx, I think of the first speech that Leon Trotsky gave there. He started his speech by saying: "O workers and peasants of the Bronx..."
