Sometimes when I read the delusions in Lebanese political culture, I get very critical of Lebanese public opinion. But the media really play a big part. This article in An-Nahar says that Condoleezza Rice "monitors with interest the results of the intensive meetings" between mini-Hariri and Nabih Birri. Yes. Ms. Rice can't sleep without checking on the results of those meetings that are closely followed around the world. Why do you think Ahmad Fatfat is an international celebrity now? He is stopped at international airports and asked to sign autographs. Sometimes the delusions in Lebanese political and popular cultures make you want to yell at Lebanese: that your country is so insignificant, the lemony taste of Tabbulah notwithstanding.
