"Senate lawmakers on Thursday introduced a resolution that calls for the immediate and unconditional release of three Israeli soldiers captured by the terrorist groups Hamas and Hizballah. The resolution condemns the organizations for the kidnappings and urges them to allow prompt medical treatment of the soldiers by representatives of the International Red Cross. Sponsored by Sens. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) and George V. Voinovich (R-OH), the resolution follows the June 2006 abduction by Hamas of Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit and the July 2006 kidnapping by Hizballah of soldiers Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev. A similar resolution introduced by Reps. Gary Ackerman (D-NY) and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) passed the House Committee on Foreign Affairs in February and awaits a full House vote." (thanks Amahl)
