"Given her background in repressed societies, Hirsi Ali’s infatuation with the principles of Western societies — including gender equality, religious freedom, scientific inquiry and the rule of law — is easily understood." I have lived half of my life in "Western society" and never encountered those principles. What is wrong with me. But I will tell you this: "Western societies" seems really nice and perfect--at least from this letter. So Mr. Bush stands for "gender equality, religious freedom, scientific inquiry and the rule of law" and I have never noticed?
