Amer on Iraqslogger and I on this site wrote about our theory that US plans to replace Maliki with Allawi. This is from the NYT: "Some of the main players have returned to Baghdad, including Mr. Allawi and Mr. Pachachi, who generally spend much of their time abroad. The group is reaching out to try to bring in new members, and at least for now, there seems to be momentum."
