The Saudi King will award the International King Faysal Prize for this year, in the category of "Service to Islam,"--hold your breath--to the president of the Republic of Tartaristan. The award acknowledged "his great efforts in reviving Islamic culture in his homeland, and to inform the Muslims of his country about the principles of their valuable religion, and his efforts in rebuilding mosques that had been destroyed in previous times to the point that they now number more than a thousand; and his founding of printing presses for Qur'an and Islamic books, and many Islamic schools and societies, and the establishment of the Islamic Russian University."
