In the Senate hearings today (mentioned below), Sen. McCaskill of Missouri asked the most pertinent questions (although she did sound angry when talking--like they all did--about Iraqi ingratitude toward the US which after all has devastated and occupied the country to "liberate" its people). She for example was the only one to point out--the media have not to my knowledge--that there is a major contradiction in the administration's account of the source of this brilliant surge plan. You see, the National Security Adviser (among others in the White House) has been saying that this is an Iraqi plan; yet, the chairperson of the joint chiefs and the Secretary of Defense kept saying that the US commanders were the ones who came up with this plan. Which way is it?, she asked them.
