Robert Fisk (or was it Abed, his driver) said that Walid Jumblat is "eloquent." But I have never ever seen a person who has a more uncreative use of language. He repeats the same words and the same sentences over and over again. And when he writes his speeches down: he is laughable. He writes Arabic (read his editorials in Al-Anba`) at the level of school compositions for 8th graders. But then again; Abed, Robert Fisk's driver, may know something I don't know. And maybe in private dinners with Fisk, Jumblat is more eloquent. Also, did you notice in Jumblat's house in Beirut (during the press conference today) there is a huge portrait of himself on the wall? I always thought that it is silly for people to hang their own portraits on their walls. Why do they do that? Do they forget how they look? They can run to the nearest mirror.
