I just spoke to my mother. She is most unhappy about developments in Lebanon. She is most worried too. She keeps asking me about what will happen next, as if I know. She does not support the protests in downtown Beirut. She is most unhappy about the Sanyurah daily carnivals: she believes that while Rafiq Hariri planted the seeds of sectarianism he did not allow things to get out of hand. She says that Sanyruah has revealed his true colors. She does not like the attacks on Nasrallah from Hariri camp: but blames Nasrallah for deciding to stage the protests. She does not like the protests. She was pleased with the agreement between the Tayyar and the Lebanese Communist Party. At least those two are not sectarian, she observed. We need only non-sectarian political forces, she said. People are nervous and scared, she said.
