My mother loves the Lamartine's poem, The Lake. She knows it by heart. She often recites it. I still know a few lines by heart (from her). Here, are 9 different Arabic (poetic) translations of the poem. I personally favor without reservation the beautiful one by Niqula Fayyad. (What is sad is this: Niqula Fayyad was only known for this poem; and his only known poem was translated from Lamartine's.) You judge. I managed to caramelize all 9 poems.
